How to Care for Crochet Flowers (So They Last for Years)
Crochet flowers are about the easiest flowers you can own: no water, no sunlight, no trimming. A few small habits will keep them looking just-made for years.
Dusting (once a month)
Use a soft, dry makeup brush, or a hair dryer on the cool setting held about 30 cm away. Work from the top of the bloom downward.
Spot cleaning
For a small mark, dab (don't rub) with a cloth dipped in cold water and a drop of mild detergent. Let it air-dry fully, away from direct heat. Never machine-wash a bouquet, because the wired stems and shaped petals will lose their form.
Reshaping petals
Our stems are wired, so you can gently bend them. If a petal flattens in transit, pinch and curl it back with your fingers. For a deeper reset, hold the bloom over steam from a kettle (at a safe distance) for 5 seconds, then shape it.
Sunlight
Every dyed yarn fades slowly in harsh direct sun. A bright room is perfect, but avoid a window ledge that gets afternoon sun all day.
Storage & travel
Keep the original Purlkrosia box. To store a bouquet, lay it flat with tissue between the blooms. It will travel happily in a suitcase.
Scent (optional)
Add one drop of essential oil (rose or lavender) to the stem or leaves, never to light-coloured petals.
